2010 Golden Globe Nominations Announced

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced it's nominees for the 68th Golden Globe Awards.

While many of the nominees were expected some were surprises and confusing.  The most confusing would be the nominations for "The Tourist" starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie in the categories of Actor, Actress and Motion Picture.  Aside from the fact the film has received mostly negative reviews it was nominated in the Comedy or Musical categories.  While the film contains comedic elements, it has mostly been classified as a thriller which would traditionally place it in the Drama categories and it is certainly not a musical.  Talk in the past has been that a primary concern of the Hollywood Foreign Press is getting star power to their event and whispers are already beginning that these nominations exist solely as a way to get to Depp and Jolie at the ceremony.

Other surprises include the nominations of Michael Douglas in the Supporting Actor category for "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and Halle Berry in extremely small released "Frankie and Alice".  Neither performer had picked nominations or wins this season prior to this morning's announcement.  The Coen Brothers' "True Grit", a remake of the Oscar winning John Wayne film starring Jeff Bridges, was completely shut out.

A complete list of the nominees (minus those for television) has been posted on our 68th Golden Globe Page and also make sure to see how these nomination have affected the Award Season Leaderboard.
